About

I’m glad you’re here! If you’re reading this, that means we already have something in common—a passion for building and designing guitar pedals.

My name is Grant Kelsay and I’ve spent the last few years playing in bands, recording music, and chasing killer guitar tones. Being a software engineer by trade, I have a natural curiosity of how, and more importantly why, things work. In pursuit of trying to sound like my favorite artists, I began to research how these tones are created. This led me down a rabbit hole and eventually I began creating my own pedals I would gig with.

I loved designing the circuits, soldering, even assembling the pedals, but there was one step that I just couldn’t get right—the enclosure layout. In order to get consistent results every time, while also having the flexibility to change layouts for different pedals, I wanted to create a tool that simplifies this task.

After designing my first jig, I realized that my passion had expanded from creating guitar pedals, to creating tools that other makers could use to make their projects easier, and thus PedalSmith was born!
